The Glasgow Bar Association is the representative body for the legal profession
in the west of Scotland although membership is open to all membership is open
to members of the legal profession anywhere. Student membership is available to
those studying law as long as their place of study or residence is within the
territorial jurisdiction of Glasgow Sheriff Court.
The Association is there to promote, represent and protect the rights and
interests of its members in the practice of law. It will consider and monitor
proposals for law reform and, if necessary, formulate such proposals. In
addition the Association will arrange professional development opportunities
for members and organise social functions for members and their guests.
The formulation, direction and execution of the policy of the Association will
be carried out by the Executive Committee who shall be elected annually at the
Annual General Meeting.
